Fast Food Nation

This book was so interesting and a huge eye opener.  It has affected me a lot more than I thought it would.  I love eating hamburgers every now and then, but I did not put much thought into where the hamburger patties came from.  Now, that I know how McDonald’s along with other franchises, work with the meat industry, I think twice about going out to buy from their fast food restaurants.  With the information I gained here, I decided to limit my hamburger consumption as much as possible.  I plan to make better choices on the food I decide to put in my mouth.  This book ahs made me think of where all my food items, especially, beef and chicken come from.  I now think a lot more on if the meat I purchase is quality meat or not.  Also, I think a lot more on the effect that fast food may have on my family.

My truth...my semester

My truth for last week's blog post was that I earned three college units from Cal State Fullerton. I earned these credits during my senor year in high school through a program called Future Teachers. With this program, those students who wanted to become teachers, were allowed to take a course that helped them get a general idea of what it took to be a teacher, while giving them a head start on receiving college units.

Now onto a different topic. This semester has kept me very occupied. Six college courses are a lot of work. But, I am hanging in there. After all, the semester is almost over. I enjoy coming to school and hanging out with my friends, while learning something new and useful each day. But, I do not like the the way some tests are prepared for some classes. But, this is what the college experience is all about, because the pay off in the end, is worth it. In the end, I will have the education needed for my success. Ultimately, what keeps me motivated is the fact that since, I got married, I plan to start a family soon and I want to be able to provide for my family. Also, I want to be well educated to demonstrate to my mom how thankful I am for her support in my education, since the first day I went to kindergarten. Her love along with my husband's and my family's support, keeps me moving forward, in the direction to success.
